I formed Wide Open Media in 2005. My background is in film & TV marketing and promotion, working for ABCTV, Southern Star and Beyond International, as well as a variety of smaller production houses. My work includes promotional material for numerous film projects including Idiot Box, The Sound of One Hand Clapping, The Well and Strictly Ballroom. Some of the TV shows include Water Rats, Home & Away, Young Lions, Blue Murder to name but a few. I have designed and consulted on multimedia installations, product launch collateral, exhibition and environmental signage, fine art catalogues and educational resources. I have also worked as designer and project coordinator for a number of Australian documentary films including Mrs Carey's Concert (2011), Once My Mother (2014) and Midnight Oil 1984 (2019). Since late 2019 I have also been a director at One Minute Cinema. Wide Open Media is now integrated with this video production facility,

For over 15 years now I've been poorly hiding in the deep background of un-scripted Australian TV shows such as 'The Piano', 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here', 'Impractical Jokers', and 'The Amazing Race' as well as directing feature content such as Nine's recent documentary, 'Sydney 2000: The Best Ever'. As a producer and director I've worked across some of Australia's most popular entertainment formats and crafted the creative storytelling of international sporting broadcasts from grand slam Tennis to Formula 1 and the Olympics. Along with the occasional hosting gig or VO job, all of my work is focused on engaging audiences through entertaining, emotive and high production value storytelling. Showcasing a broad spectrum of stories into Australian homes is key to our cultural idenitity. How can we best bring people together and convey the somtimes funny and somtimes change making thoughts, feelings and messages of every day Australians. Recently moving to the mountains has given me a new perspective on my work and frankly... allowed me some space to feel creative again. I love it here and I really look forward to being able to colaborate with, learn from and be entertained by the range of local artists that also call this place home.

Having lived in the BMs for over 30 years I draw inspiration from the beauty of the natural environment for my art practice, thus exploring a personal and social understanding of the way visual arts influence beliefs and actions. The motivation for my artwork is to revitalise this connection though art and viewer by evoking an understanding of connection with the natural world as immanent and interdependent. My art practice centres on a social ecology of consciousness that envisions a cultural story relevant to, and in continuity with this South Land of my birth - one which awakens and embodies an indigenous spirit that works with nature on its terms. Personalised 'story' art quilts are another aspect of my work, created in response to individual lived experiences and values, or to commemorate special moments or different stages of life. I balance my creative practices between my special interests of printmaking, making picture books and jewellery making. I have three books published through Loose Parts Press (including bestselling Goodnight, Blue Mountains) and continue to dream on my next project in the cracks I can find in motherhood.

In 1985 I found myself in the school darkroom developing and printing photos for art class. This was my introduction to photography, and in 1986 I went onto study a degree in photography at QCA in Brisbane. There I focused on creating life sized portraits of edgy characters in black and white on a large format film camera. In 1989 I became disillusioned with photography and abandoned the medium. It wasn’t until 2024 in Katoomba that I picked up a camera again. Ever since I have been capturing colourful details of urban structures, environments and rooftops in a minimalistic style.

I have always loved the colours, textures and shapes of old pieces of wood, metal and stone. They suggest to me ways they can come together, either abstract or figuratively, to become sculptures in the landscape. I am developing my skills in forging, metal work, stone masonry and carving, to assemble garden sculptures in which the beauty of the original materials remains the principal attraction.

Scary Strangers is the legendary lovechild of Australian comedy thirst traps Ru Halwala and Tom Stevenson! We have produced and performed in star-studded, sell-out shows all over Australia, including The STEAM Room Science Comedy Experience ft. Doctor Karl, Big Cat Club Improv Comedy Extravaganza, and Are You Havin’ A Laugh?! Our shows are know for their exceptional production values, immaculate vibes, and diverse casts. Ru and Tom are also skilled educators. In 2024 Scary Strangers launched a program in partnership with the NSW Department of Justice delivering improv workshops to children under supervision within the juvenile justice system. The program has achieved incredible short-term results with plans to expand in 2025. Every Scary Strangers performance is a comedic cocktail of highbrow wit and lowbrow filth, you never know what you’re going to get, but trust that it’ll get you where you need to go. Sketch, stand up, improv, clowning, and musical comedy - we do it all baby! You may have seen us cavorting on some of Australia’s hottest stages including Splendour in the Grass, Malthouse Theatre, Australian Museum, Factory Theatre, Enmore Theatre, Comedy Store Sydney, Brisbane Powerhouse, Queensland Museum, and Improv Theatre Sydney. My socially engaged practice involves facilitating collective, social food growing and art making within the local Blue Mountains community and with young people in a public high school setting. I am currently a PhD Candidate in social design at the University of Technology Sydney, looking at the role of civic fresh food initiatives in creating greater social and environmental health and community care mending social fragmentation and environmental degradation.

I am a young artist specialising in bespoke window art for storefront business', canvas art, and lino prints. My works tend to look very colourful, fluid and intricate.

Mark Roberts is a writer, publisher and critic living on unceded Darug and Gundungurra land. He is the founder and co-editor of Rochford Street Review and has been widely published both in Australia and overseas. His Latest collection 'The Office of Literary Endeavours' was published by 5 Islands Press in 2025. Mark is also involved in running monthly poetry readings featuring local writers at the Little Lost Bookshop in Katoomba

Nathan has worked within the entertainment industry for over 3 decades. Starting in film and television as a young actor. Television credits: Young Doctors, A Country Practice, Police Rescue, Bellamy, and the iconic drama series ‘Sons and Daughters’ for Grundy Channel 7 network. This led Nathan onto continued work in theatre at home in Australia & Internationally.  He is an original cast member of ‘Dein Perry's Tap Dogs’ He featured in the original cast of 'Shout' the musical Australian Tour starring ‘David Campbell’ He was a cast member of the first tour of ‘Mamma Mia’ at the Lyric Theatre Sydney Star Casino in the role of ‘EDDIE’ and also an original cast member of ‘Billy Elliot’ the musical. He was engaged to perform as the lead performer for the Australian Hit show ‘Dein Perry’s Steel City’ which played in Melbourne at the State theatre and New Yorks Radio City Music Hall. In the year 2000 Nathan was appointed as an assistant to Dein Perry for the opening of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games choreographing over 1300 tap dances, and also performed with Kylie Minogue for the closing ceremony of the Olympics Games choreographed by William Forsythe. Whilst on tour in the USA and the UK Nathan had the honour of working with Steve Wonder for the Quincy Jones 25th Anniversary concert, performed at the Royal Variety Performance at Royal Albert Hall for his Royal Highness King Charles. Nathan has also performed on numerous occasions at our own iconic Sydney Opera House, and in all of Australia's major national theatres. He has worked at Australia Zoo as a presenter and entertainer for the Erwin family, Australia's Wonderland, Warner Bros Movie World, Walt Disney World Tours in Australia & New Zealand and has worked for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and also aboard the QE2 as a guest artist.  Nathan has performed  within many corporate shows and launches throughout Australia and overseas as a male dancer, tap dancer and guest performer. With a background in television production and writing, Julie Miller is your go-to local for helping to bring your production to fruition. Recently employed by Blue Mountains City Council as a consultant for the screen sector, she has an intimate knowledge of Blue Mountains locations, creatives and infrastructure as well as knowledge about how things work on set. She is also an award-winning travel writer, four-times-published non fiction author, and an optioned screenwriter.

Jaz Kalman is an emerging visual artist based in the Blue Mountains, NSW, whose practice explores identity and expression through semi-realistic portraiture. A recent graduate of TAFE NSW’s Visual Arts program, Jaz works primarily in drawing and painting, blending traditional techniques with contemporary influences to create bold, character-driven works. Their portraits often draw on pop culture, infusing familiar imagery with emotional nuance and a sharp eye for detail. As they continue to develop their practice, Jaz brings curiosity, technical skill, and a distinct illustrative voice to each piece. They are available for commissions and collaborative projects and is committed to expanding their presence in the regional arts scene. Recent awards include The MTNS MADE Industry Award, Outstanding Achievement in Drawing and Highly Commended in Printmaking from NSW TAFE.

Maree O’Brien is an emerging Wiradjuri visual artist based in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Working primarily in painting and jewellery, her practice is grounded in storytelling, exploring themes of cultural identity, connection to Country, and personal memory. Maree is currently studying visual arts at TAFE NSW, where she is expanding her skills and refining her creative voice. Her work draws inspiration from her Wiradjuri heritage and the landscapes around her, using traditional and contemporary materials to express stories of belonging, resilience, and self-discovery. Maree has exhibited works at the Blue Mountains City Art Gallery in Katoomba and Braemar Gallery in Springwood, sharing intimate pieces that reflect her cultural journey and evolving artistic practice. Her paintings often feature layered symbolism and earth-toned palettes, while her handmade jewellery incorporates natural forms and textures, honouring traditional knowledge and materials. Maree is available for commissions, and welcomes opportunities to collaborate with individuals and organisations who share an interest in First Nations perspectives and meaningful creative engagement.

Modern Art Projects Blue Mountains (MAPBM) is a not-for-profit incorporated association that supports and advocates for the development, production and exhibition of contemporary, multi-form art in the Blue Mountains. MAPBM also aims to foster an independent environment that supports the development and practice of contemporary artists and curators and to engage with the wider Blue Mountains community in developing a new critical agenda for contemporary art in the region. MAPBM was established by a group of predominantly Blue Mountains-based artists. It is run by artists, curators and others who are interested in, and dedicated to, the promotion and advocacy of contemporary art. MAPBM has partnered with a number of organisations in developing innovative exhibitions and projects and has received funding from the Blue Mountains City of the Arts Trust, Create NSW, Festivals Australia, the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and a range of other agencies and foundations.

Jon Flood is a musician living and working on Dharug and Gundungurra country. Jon writes nylon-string guitar songs, influenced by American primitivism, minimalism and experimental music

No.14 Lovel St, build c1913, has been welcoming guests for over 110 years. Many traditional features remain in the house, with an upcycled /quirky Blue Mountains interior. A great space to hire for workshops, or as a photography location. Please note: there was no choice of just location hire so I ticked Photographic Studio, but we are not a studio. The owners, Annette & Gavin Blake became Accidental Innkeepers in 2017 and have fallen deeply in love with the Mountains. In 2022, Annette wrote the locals guide to everything else, apart from the famouse walks, in the Blue Mountains. "Out of the Blue" is now in its second edition for 23/24.

I am a Blue Mountains-based writer and media consultant with a background in journalism, communications, and public engagement. As well as my own creative practice - writing personal essays, memoir, fiction and arts/culture reviews - I help individuals and organisations communicate more effectively, through clear and uncluttered narrative, media engagement, and compelling storytelling. I have trained hundreds of professionals in plain English writing techniques (via the NSW IPAA and Plain English Foundation) and taught senior subjects in Macquarie University's school of media and communication.

SIRC_UIT is the joint practice of Katrina Noorbergen and Jan M. Walter. Operating as a Creative Studio working at the intersections of art, technology, performance and architecture, SIRC_UIT collaborates with artists, musicians, curators and technologists across digital, analog and experimental art forms to explore and redefine our interactions with technology, bridging the gap between traditional art forms and the digital world. Katrina Noorbergen is a cultural producer, performance curator, and leading arts worker based in Western Sydney, on Dharug and Gundungurra Land. After a decade-long international career as a touring musician and published songwriter, Katrina returned to Australia in 2015. She has since worked in pivotal roles at Carriageworks, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and Create NSW. Katrina Noorbergen is the Program Curator for SIRC_UIT, championing experimental performance practices in unconventional spaces, uplifting emerging artists and fostering creative collaboration on the fringes. Jan M. Walter is a French/German audio-visual and installation artist based in Western Sydney, on Dharug and Gundungurra Land, and the Founder of SIRC_UIT. In his practice, he designs and constructs temporary architecture using lighting elements built from the ground up. Mixed with layers of found and reject materials as well as decommissioned technological infrastructure he creates large-scale immersive installations that are driven by custom hardware and software. His work is influenced by humanity's descent into technological abundance, the obsolescence of its own productivity and the absurdity of Moore's Law and what it leaves behind.. SIRC_UIT has and continues to collaborate with a multitude of artists and organisations to deliver boundary-pushing independent programming across Australia and beyond.

Bill Kokkaris is an Greek-Australian visual artist and playwright. His plays Baraki, Night Journeys, and A Lifetime of Summers were produced by Take Away Theatre. Bill has also written one-act plays for Carnivale and Sidetrack Theatre. In addition to his creative work, Bill has held roles across several NSW government agencies as an editor, communications manager, and corruption prevention practitioner. He had a longstanding interest in immigration studies and has collaborated professionally and creatively with migrant communities throughout his career. In 2020, Bill received an Invited Residency at Varuna, The National Writers’ House in Katoomba, where he completed the first draft of his novel Paradisos. In 2023, Paradisos was a finalist in the Eyelands Book Awards (Unpublished Novel category). When not writing, Bill paints and draws from his studio in the Blue Mountains.

Situated in Katoomba but working with clients the world over, I'm  experienced in  concept art, visual-development, matte-painting, storyboards and promotional art in the film, television, advertising, themed entertainment and games industries. Penrith-born and bred with over 20 years of industry experience. From mid-2005 to early 2016 I resided in Oslo, Norway where I was fortunate to work with some amazing and talented people on a number of awarding nominated and award-winning Norwegian films and AAA games titles. Along the way I also worked on concepts, key-frames, and storyboards for TV commercials, and I've illustrated the occasional book-cover. From 2016 to 2023 I lived and worked in Melbourne before moving to misty heights of the mountains in 2024. Film and Cinematic Entertainment concept art, storyboards and Matte-painting, Themed Entertainment and Attraction design, Museum and Exhibition design, Events design, Concepts for Video games, Television Commercials, VR, Book Illustration, and Education at the Tertiary level with RMIT in Melbourne are among the fields I've worked in. I have a passion for place-making, problem-solving, and story-telling through visual mediums. I love communicating a story, concept or idea through visuals that excite, engage and move, and I enjoy being a part of the collaborative effort to bring an idea or vision to fruition.

Margaret Davis Director, Playwright, Teaching Artist, Script Assessor/Dramaturge, Acting Coach Margaret has had a 50 year career in the performing arts, principally as a director and playwright but also as an actor, dancer, choreographer and lecturer. In May 2017 Margaret created and directed a sell-out production of a new work about food and memory, Breaking Bread which featured a team of 16 writers and actors from the Blue Mountains area. Margaret has staged a second new work, Eating Pomegranates, with a successful season at Wentworth Falls School of Arts in March 2019. The work, which celebrates bodies through all stages of life and death, was developed through a QLab residency at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre and the support of the Blue Mountains Cultural Trust. Margaret lectured in Contextual Studies for the BA in Performing Arts at AIM for ten years and also freelances as a dramaturge and script assessor (principally with the Australian Writers’ Guild.) I am a photographer and design educator.

I am an interdisciplinary artist working across performance and visual art based in the Blue Mountains, Australia. Growing up in the former Soviet Union during the turbulent 1990s shaped my critical approach to narratives about the status quo. My work explores alternative forms of knowledge and modes of existence. Through performance and visual art, I examine expanded ways of perceiving and engaging with the world and the environment. My approach to performance art is strongly influenced by my visual arts background and my research in more-than-human choreographies. I work with objects as collaborators and my body as both medium and tool, generating 'living images' that transform the known into the unknown. Everyday objects, often overlooked, become active participants, revealing their own performative agency. This expanded practice seeks to explore ecological entanglements and non-human intelligence. I am currently undertaking a PhD in performance art and interdisciplinary practice at Macquarie University, Sydney, where my research focuses on more-than-human choreographies and extended mind theory. I investigate how human and non-human entities co-create within performative environments, expanding notions of agency and collaboration. My current artistic research includes developing performances in collaboration with weaver ants, working alongside Macquarie University researchers studying natural complex systems. These investigations have deepened my inquiry into interspecies co-creation and ecological intelligence in performance-making.

Blue Mountains Musical Society was founded by music lovers Heather Gwilliam, Jenny Edwards, Barry McNicol, and pianist Phyllis Huthnance, who all agreed that a musical society would be just the place for stage folk and musos alike to get together and produce good music and lasting friendships. A public meeting was called and with an enthusiastic group of 45 people the very first BMMS production of Trial by Jury at Springwood Uniting Church was in full swing. For just $3 a ticket the audience packed into the church hall. So positive was the response that members decided to go full steam ahead and form a committee. This all happened in 1981! Not that long ago really, when one considers how far BMMS has come since those early days. Since 1981 BMMS has been rehearsing and proudly presenting operetta, musical comedy, concerts and youth programs at the Springwood Civic Centre. In 2012, BMMS performed their last musical in the centre before it closed for renovations, allowing BMMS the opportunity to travel to new audiences at new venues, performing Sweeney Todd in 2013 at the Q Theatre, Monty Python’s Spamalot at the EVAN Theatre Penrith Panthers in June 2014, CATS at The Lighthouse Theatre, Orchard Hills in November 2014 and back for one last show at EVAN Theatre with The Who’s Tommy in May 2015. We returned to the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub, previously known as the Springwood Civic Centre in late 2015 with The Phantom of the Opera. In 2025, BMMS will be staging a new production of the Broadway smash hit, Come From Away, in May, followed by Legally Blonde in October.

I endeavour to bring a relaxed, welcoming attitude to all my shoots, looking to make it as fun and comfortable for the people I'm working with as possible. I work with both natural light, and supplement with studio lighting when needed, to create work that feels both real, and like scenes out of films.I have 10+ years of experience working with brands, from small local businesses, to national and multinational companies

I paint outside 'plein air' to gather inspiration for larger painting in my studio. I love to be out in nature and this beautiful landscape is the perfect inspiration. Taylor Film was established in Sydney, Australia in the year 2000 by designer & director Tom Taylor. Tom has been directing & producing video, animation & design work for leading Australian & international brands for the last twenty years. His award winning work can be found across free-to-air and cable television and in international film festivals. Tom’s first film ‘Dark Age of Light’ premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival, won the ‘Best Film’ & ‘Audience Favourite’ awards in the Australian Sci-Fi Film Festival as well as an Atom Award for Best Animated Film. The film was also invited into the Australian National Film & Sound Archive. Tom has worked extensively in Japan & has produced high end broadcast work for Toyota, Honda, Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, Sony & Konami. In Australia he has directed & produced design & vision for ABC, SBS, Foxtel & all of the free-to-air Australian TV channels. Tom has also produced various visual design work for live events including work for the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony & the 2015 Vivid Festival. Justin holds a Masters in Creative Industries from Western Sydney University and an Advance Diploma in Screen Media, Multiplatform Producing. He has experience in producing documentary content for television. In 2020, Justin was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to explore the artist-led makerspaces. In his background of film production, programming and production, he has worked for the Brisbane International Film Festival, Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the Sydney Film Festival and the Antenna International Documentary Film Festival. He produced the award winning 30min documentary ‘Not a Willing Participant’ screened on ABC and the 1hour documentary, ‘A War of Hope’ with SBS/NITV. Most recently Justin has been the Exhibition Manager at Sculpture at Scenic World and formerly worked in the technical team for Sculpture by the Sea.

Wendy Joyce is a Blue Mountains-based textile artist whose practice explores connections between people, place, and the natural world through cloth, colour, and collected plant material. Drawing on a background in printmaking, textiles, and community arts, she creates sculptural textile works, installations, and wall-based pieces that invite reflection on our relationship with the environment. Working primarily with organic indigo, botanical dyes, eco-printing, and repurposed textiles, Joyce approaches making as a collaboration with nature. Leaves, invasive weeds, and locally foraged plant material become both subject and process, leaving traces of their presence through direct contact with cloth. Her work investigates memory, ecology, sustainability, and the often-overlooked beauty of cultivated and wild landscapes, encouraging viewers to develop a deeper appreciation of the natural systems that surround them. Joyce holds a Bachelor of Fine Art and Visual Culture from Curtin University and an Advanced Diploma of Fine Arts from The Sydney Gallery School. Her work has been exhibited widely across New South Wales, including her solo exhibition Two Blocks Away (2019), and has received recognition through the GreenWay Art Prize, Eden Unearthed Art Prize, and Ryde SWAP Art Prize. A commitment to ongoing material research is central to her practice. In 2026, Joyce undertook an intensive indigo study tour across Japan, visiting traditional dye studios, indigo farms, museums, and artisan workshops in Kyoto, Tokushima, Kurume, and Amami Island. Working alongside master dyers and craftspeople, she deepened her understanding of aizome (Japanese indigo dyeing), sukumo fermentation techniques, shibori, katazome, kasuri, and botanical dye traditions. These experiences continue to inform an evolving body of work that combines contemporary textile art with traditional knowledge, celebrating the enduring cultural and ecological significance of natural dye practices.

Samantha Lee Curran (she/her) is a queer poet, writer, and award-winning artist living on Dharug and Gundungurra land. She is the author of the poetry collection 'exposure to existence' (Alien Buddha Press, 2023) and 'blue is how i know you (Illographo Press, 2025) and her work has been published in several online and in print literary magazines. Samantha was chosen as a Vessels of Love poet for the inaugural City of Sydney poetry event in 2021 and was an Artist in Residence at Chateau d’Orquevaux in 2023, and exhibited her debut solo show ‘the rot and the raw’ at Gallery NWC, September 2024. She will be attending a residency at Studio Kura Japan in July 2025.

My home on Dharug and Gundungurra country is the source of my practice; I use leaves, bark and flowers from my surrounds and the wild places I travel to dye the threads and textiles I work with, gathering extra inspiration from thrifted materials. My dyed fabrics are soaked with the memory of the place they were dyed; similarly thrifted fabric holds memory of its past use. I work wherever I find myself: at home, in wild landscapes, in cars and libraries, allowing my needle to follow the line of a branch, rock or a thought. Stitches are my words; a journal of place and time, where memories and images overlay each other to form a landscape of life. I studied art at the Tin Sheds as part of my architecture degree, and have worked as a primary school teacher. Renata Commisso is a multidisciplinary dancer, choreographer, movement director, and community arts facilitator based in Little Hartley. With over 12 years of international experience, she has performed with esteemed companies including Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (Montreal), Opéra de Lyon (France) and Victor Ullate Ballet (Madrid), before returning to Australia in 2018 to establish her independent practice. Renata has collaborated with leading organisations and artists such as the National Gallery of Australia, Opera Australia, Form Dance, Marc Brew, Sue Healey, Living Room Theatre, and Julie-Anne Long. Her choreographic works—including YOUWHO? and Motherhood—have been featured at Sydney Fringe and integrated into the Western Sydney University curriculum. Darius Guilford is an Australian visual artist and graphic designer living and working in the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia. The traditional lands of the Darug, Gundungarra and Wiradjuri people. With over three decades in graphic design and communication Darius brings strong design principles and disciplined process to his art practice. Darius’ work is non-objective and is based in formal considerations of shape, colour, tone, composition, and marks that can be created with various tools. He works with considered geometries and formal composition. The use of a strictly applied grid speaks to formal training in graphic design, his career for over 30 years. Darius uses formal compositional devises of proportion, division and repetition to provide scaffolding on which to build either complex or refined paintings. Choices of separated areas of colour, or overlapping layers, or precisely applied marks are the ways he chooses to explore what painting and drawing can be. Or at least what they can for him in his current practice. Darius explores the materiality of painting through process. At times he is exuberant in gesture, at others he chooses restraint. Both process and material become the subject of the finished work.

When i reached 60 i found myself in a shitty situation. Short story, I started painting. Seven years in Ive held three solo exhibitions, two in Katoomba and one in Glebe. Shortlisted for the Meerogal art prize, twice selected for the Newcastle Sea Mission’s art prize and out of 900 entries made it to the shortlist with Gorman’s collaboration for that seasons newest fabric design. Ive refreshed my practice by going to TAFE’s art courses and several other intensive’s including one at NAS.

I am a painter and filmmaker. In 2007, I established Frogmouth Films making documentary and environmental, social justice pieces. I have had numerous solo shows and been part of group exhibitions and projects of both painting and films. I am also a contributor / camerawork on various Australian documentaries. I am currently in pre production on a documentary titled: UNSTOPPABLE CHANGE. My portrait of Blue Mountain's local Mary Waterford (OM), titled: Do What Calls Your Heart, won People's Choice at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, 2025.

I originally trained as an artist and have over 30 years’ experience working with contemporary art and audiences; positioned as a thought-leader around audience engagement within the global museum and gallery sector. In 2015 I moved from the UK to be Director Audience Engagement, MCA Australia, embedding creative learning, access and inclusion, research and evaluation across the organisation. I left the MCA in May 2023, to become a consultant supporting art and audiences; offering training, mentoring and consulting in contemporary art, visitor experience, interpretation, access and inclusion, audience engagement and development, and creativity and wellbeing. My approach is one of care, kindness, empathy and respect. I am also an experienced coach and mentor for creatives of all kinds and am currently coaching two artists based in the UK.

Norman Lindsay Gallery Explore the former home of prolific and controversial artist Norman Lindsay, while enjoying a day of art and gardens in a historic Blue Mountains location. Nestled in the heart of Faulconbridge, Dharug and Gundungurra Country, is a beautiful sandstone cottage that was once the home of Australian artist and writer Norman Lindsay, his wife Rose and their daughters. Visitors can discover Norman Lindsay’s paintings and illustrations, then step into the original painting studio where he created his famous art and much-loved children’s book The Magic Pudding. Wander the lovely heritage gardens and take a short scenic bushwalk with views of the Grose Valley to round out a great day out in the Blue Mountains. Artists and creatives are encouraged to frequent the venue to use as inspiration, to hold events, workshops or volunteer.

I source semi-precious gemstone beads, freshwater pearls, shells, wood and czech glass from across Australia creating a vibrant range of colours and textures into necklaces, earrings and bracelets. The stones are strung on a variety of products from jewellery wire, silk, hemp and cotton which come in various lengths and styles, from retro to chic, from minimalist to luscious. Although each piece is unique, I could duplicate if a customer needs, for instance, to create some similar pieces for a wedding party. I have a stall at the Cascade Markets held in the Tibby Whalan Hall in the Town Centre on the 1st Saturday of the month from 9.30 am to 3.30pm which attracts a fine array of artists, jewellery, ceramics, pre-loved clothing, collectibles, jams & biscuits, vinyl records and CDs, honey, and succulent plants & pots.

The woodblock print is never a “blank canvas” and this organic nature of the medium is part of what I find so enticing about creating in this medium. In my works the voice of the wood and paper are often empowered to speak through the wood grain and paper fibres in the prints. I have studied and practiced art in a number of mediums, drawing, painting, etching and sculpture, however, I chose to work in woodblock because it is an accessible form and more environmentally and socially sustainable. Making woodblock prints is slow art and it is often small art. Some of my work uses recycled or found wood and most of my paper is handmade from bamboo, mulberry or hemp. In a world of climate change, species extinction, artificial life and rapidly increasing technology, the handmade woodblock print is an age old accessible medium that connects art and people. My woodblock prints demonstrate a number of printmaking techniques including single block, reduction block, multi block, jigsaw block and hand coloured prints.

Whether behind the camera, shaping brand narratives, or refining processes that support meaningful work, I’m drawn to the details that elevate both experience and outcome.

Dr Mareike Gronwald is a German-born emerging artist, arts worker and sociologist living on unceded Gundungurra and Dharug Country in the Blue Mountains. With a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Mannheim (2013) and experience as a researcher and lecturer in the field of social policy analysis, her academic background informs her art practice and her deep interest in how societies function, change and succeed. Mareike's art practice is rooted in transformation—constructing, deconstructing, and reconstructing visual maps of what it means to be a woman and a mother. It is a creative reflection on her ongoing engagement with societal and political questions—particularly the role, recognition, and perception of women in society and how these experiences intersect with emotional and spiritual connections to the natural world. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Mareike explores various degrees of abstraction and the intuitive play with colour, form and mark making. This process gives rise to shapes, lines, and symbols that float between geometric precision and organic irregularity, alluding to the entangled realms of eco-feminism, sociology, and the hidden rituals of m/othering and women’s work across the boundaries of bodies and statehood. Influenced by the emotional intensity of German Expressionism, especially the Blauer Reiter group, the spiritual abstraction of Hilma af Klint, and the principles of geometric abstraction, Mareike's work attempts to hold space for intuition and intellect, for the fluid and the structured—an ongoing negotiation between internal worlds and external systems. Her abstract compositions often point toward the veiled, unseen dimensions of mothering journeys and the labour of care, often rendered invisible in dominant narratives.

I am an Illustrator, Textile Designer & Artist, based in the beautiful Blue Mountains, Australia, where I live with my family. My inspiration is regularly drawn from my immediate surrounds as well as native flora and fauna further afield. With a background in both Textile Design and Visual Art, my work has been showcased in galleries and fashion and homewares ranges both locally and internationally. I have also illustrated a number of children’s books including (the award-winning), Leonard the Lyrebird. I work in a variety of mediums, often combining hand-drawn or painted images with digital techniques.

Azari Thompson aka Numinous Bloom is a contemporary artist and guide of Erotic Evolution whose work explores the alchemy of shame into embodied freedom. Holding a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Sydney College of the Arts, Azari works across painting, digital media, ceramics, and performance to create immersive worlds of sensual expression and transformation. Her creative process is an act of devotion, a dialogue between body and spirit, celebrating pleasure as a sacred force of life. Through her art, Azari invites others into remembrance: of beauty, truth, and the divine nature of desire.

For more than 20 years Chandu Bickford has worked at the intersection of creativity, leadership & business, mentoring creative professionals & practitioners to gain clarity, cut through complexity & build meaningful, sustainable work. A nationally accredited business & leadership educator & trainer, her approach blends intellect, emotional intelligence & intuition, helping people lead & create with confidence & discernment. Born & raised in the Blue Mountains, Chandu trained as a nurse while also studying & practicing art, & was often found painting impressionist landscapes on local cliff tops. In her mid-twenties she set off on a seven-month overseas adventure & didn’t return home for twelve years. Much of that time was spent living in a remote village in Tanzania, where she founded a small fair-trade enterprise connecting East African artisans with Australian markets. Working with local village women, deepened her appreciation for creativity, culture & the courage it takes to build a livelihood from creative work. Today, through her award-winning programs, Chandu supports artists, practitioners & creative professionals who want to bring their ideas & talents more fully into the world. Having spent decades straddling both the creative & business worlds, she understands firsthand the challenges of turning passion into sustainable work.
