biography

Hi! I'm Skye, the founder and Creative Director of Pebble Design Co. I am an interior designer creating commercial, hospitality, retail and residential spaces, but what I'm really interested in is people. How they move, work, shop, eat, gather, live, and occasionally get in each other's way. I don't start with a mood board, I start with questions. How does your team work? Where do customers hesitate? What's slowing your business down? How do you actually live? What's frustrating you every single day? Because if a space doesn't function brilliantly, no amount of pretty will save it. For more than 13 years, I have designed venues, stores, workplaces and homes, translating ideas into spaces that feel effortless to use (even though there's a lot of thinking behind them). At Pebble Design Co, we believe good design isn't about following trends. It's about creating spaces with purpose, that work hard, age well and quietly do their job every single day.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
