The Silence Between

The Silence Between is an immersive installation that combines hand drawn digital animation with a collection of CRT televisions to explore grief, longing and the complexities of human connection. Presented at Pocket in Katoomba (@pocket.ari), the work transforms the gallery window into a fragmented emotional landscape. Across six screens, looping animations of eyes, mouths, hands and static embody different states of being: observing, feeling, speaking, remembering and becoming. Each screen exists independently, creating moments of tension, distance and quiet intimacy. Influenced by early internet culture, nostalgia and personal experiences of love and loss, the CRTs act as vessels for memory and symbols of emotional disconnection. The Silence Between reflects on the invisible spaces that exist between people, the things left unsaid, the moments we replay, and the ways in which heartbreak can reshape our understanding of ourselves and others.
