Genevieve Murray is an architect, artist, researcher and creative strategist whose work explores the relationships between climate adaptation, the built environment, cultural landscapes and community resilience. Based in the Blue Mountains, her practice is driven by a deep interest in how people, places and ecological systems intersect, and how communities can collectively imagine, shape and sustain thriving futures in times of environmental and social change. Working across architecture, research, public art and cultural practice, Genevieve brings together systems thinking, design and community engagement to investigate the role of culture in creating meaningful and lasting change. Her work is grounded in place-based approaches that connect environmental stewardship, social justice and collective wellbeing. Genevieve is a co-founder of the Blue Mountains Community Land Trust, an innovative initiative focused on creating permanently affordable and community-led housing solutions. She has served on the advisory panel of the Blue Mountains Centre for Planetary Health and is currently a board member of the Australian Community Land Trust Network, contributing to national conversations around housing equity, community development and regenerative approaches to place-making. In 2016, Genevieve co-founded Future Method Studio with Wiradjuri artist Joel Sherwood-Spring. The collaborative practice works across disciplines to create projects that engage with environmental futures and social transformation. Since its establishment, Future Method Studio has delivered commissions, exhibitions and public programs for leading cultural institutions including Carriageworks, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), Sydney Architecture Festival, Cementa Festival, Melbourne Design Week and the Venice Biennale, alongside a diverse range of private, commercial and community-based projects.
