We Create! An Intergenerational Movement and Music Project

project description

"We Create!" is created and facilitated by Renata Commisso's organisation, Move and Groove in collaboration with The Tip Toe Giants to create a magical experience celebrating community and connection. A community arts led project bringing children (3-8 years old) together with their parents, grandparents and/or careers to ignite imagination and create a story together to then share with their family and friends. Co-Founder and creator; Natasha Cesco and Renata have presented this workshop since 2022 with Inner West Council, Canada Bay Council, Readymade Works and Burwood Council. This immersive workshop and community performance can be tailored for the community. Currently it has been a 3 day workshop and a community performance or just a one off workshop. We would love to extend this in the Blue Mountains- preferably creating a longer term project with it as an Intergenerational experience connecting preschools and aged-care centres.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
