biography

I am a professional photographer living and working in the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney. I photograph the official club photos for many local sports clubs, creating custom made packages, which include team/group photos, fun muck up photos and individual portraits. I am the official photographer for Running Wild, The Blue Mountains Nepean Dance Festival, and Women With Altitude. Events are another specialty. I have photographed the Channel 7 Community Achievement Awards, the Women With Altitude Awards and TEDX Katoomba. I have been a finalist in The National Photography Portrait Prize and Head On Portrait Prize. I am the business owner of Jodi McConaghy Photography and I work at Kingswood and Katoomba TAFE in the Visual Arts Department as an Educational Support Officer 3 days a week. Recently I resumed my painting career as an abstract painter after a 4 years hiatus. I have been an oil painter for over 35 years, and now I'm experimenting with acrylics. After being introduced to Black Wing graphite pencils, a have started to draw too.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
