Corinne Loxton
biography
Corinne Loxton is a Blue Mountains landscape painter whose work grows from sustained engagement with the places she knows intimately. Working primarily in oil, she paints in the landscape and from memory, creating works that explore the shifting relationship between observation, experience and place. Her paintings are inspired by the Blue Mountains, Capertee Valley and Central Australia, where changing light, weather and landforms become a way of expressing the emotional and spiritual resonance of the landscape. Rather than simply recording a view, her work seeks to capture the experience of being immersed in a place—its atmosphere, movement and quiet presence. Over a career spanning more than thirty years, Corinne has exhibited widely throughout Australia. Her work has been recognised with the prestigious Elioth Gruner Art Prize, awarded by the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and a residency at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. She has been a finalist in numerous art prizes, including the NSW Parliament Plein Air Art Prize, and has presented her work through artist talks, workshops and her TEDx Katoomba presentation, Connecting with Creative Flow. Recent solo exhibitions include Near and Far – Between Invitation and Distance (Everglades Gallery, 2026), Into the Desert (Stella Downer Fine Art, 2024), Colours of the Country (Everglades Gallery, 2024), Evoking the Elements (Laussade Studio, Melbourne, 2024), Passages and Closer to Home (Stella Downer Fine Art, 2023), Into & Beyond (Blaxland Gallery & Studios, 2023), and Spirit of Place (Braemar Gallery, 2022). Corinne's original paintings, workshops, artist retreats, blog and full CV can be found on her website.
