MTNS MADE at The Blue Mountains Writers Festival

Join us at the 2026 Blue Mountains Writers Festival, MTNS MADE has partnered with Varuna to sponsor the Local Authors event at the Carrington Dining Room on opening night. We'll gather on the Carrington Terrace from 7pm, all welcome! Then RSVP for the main event in the Carrington Dining Room, starting at 8pm.

Offering writers the time and space to breathe, think and explore, the Blue Mountains has always been a place where creativity flourishes. Begin your Festival grounded in this spirit, with readings from four outstanding local authors working across poetry, non-fiction, literary fiction, history and memoir.

For visitors, this event provides the perfect opportunity to discover the depth of talent nurtured in the region. For locals, it’s a chance to connect with fellow artists and celebrate the creativity of our community.

This is a free event sponsored by MTNS MADE, a collective of creative professionals living and working in the Blue Mountains which aims to support, promote and grow the region’s creative economy.

‍

Barry Corr is an Aboriginal man who has lived most of his life near Dhurabang, the river that settler society thinks of as both the Hawkesbury and the Nepean. His first book is Surveying the Wild Abyss: Unravelling Settler Memory.

‍

Naomi Parry Duncan is a historian specialising in First Nations history and family history who is descended from convicts and colonists. She is the co-author of New South Wales and the Great War, and winner of the 2022 Hazel Rowley Literary Fellowship. Her latest book is Musquito: The real story of a legendary colonial warrior.

‍

Erin English has over a decade of experience in management and logistics. Her role as Residency Producer at Varuna combines her love of planning and organisation with genuine hospitality and her deep love of books.

‍

Isabelle Li is a Chinese Australian writer and translator. Her collection of short stories, A Chinese Affair, was published by Margaret River Press and her Chinese translation of Sebastian Barry's novel The Secret Scripture was published by Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House. Her latest book is The Northern Tomb.

‍

Mark O’Flynn has published several collections of poetry, most recently The Soup’s Song, and Shared Breath. His novels include Grassdogs and The Forgotten World, and The Last Days of Ava Langdon, which was a finalist for the Miles Franklin Award.
