Tucked between Warrimoo and Valley Heights, Sun Valley is one of the Blue Mountains' best-kept secrets — a semi-rural pocket where creativity unfolds behind closed gates and garden paths. With its gentle landscape and peaceful rhythm, it’s an ideal base for MTNS MADE members who value independence, quiet, and connection to nature.

You’ll find writers, illustrators, graphic designers, ceramicists, and fine artists creating from home studios nestled into the hillside. Many favour sustainable, low-impact practices and long-form projects that evolve slowly and intentionally.

Sun Valley offers a creative refuge — a place to experiment, reflect, and focus. While the local population is small, the work being made here is anything but minor. From book publishing and illustration to textile design and content development, Sun Valley creatives are part of a larger ecosystem of cultural production across the lower mountains.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
