The Ethereal Elf

project description

This piece is a bespoke couture costume ensemble, entirely designed and handcrafted from concept to completion. The gown features a structured, heavily embellished bodice in antique gold and moss tones, layered with intricate embroidery, beadwork, and hand-applied lace motifs. A softly sculpted neckline is framed by ornate shoulder armour, finished with delicate draped chains that add movement and a regal silhouette. Flowing from the shoulders, sheer forest-green capes cascade to the floor, creating a dramatic, ceremonial presence. The skirt is composed of layered tulle in graduated shades of olive and moss, giving depth, softness, and an ethereal, woodland quality. Floral appliqués trail organically from the bodice into the skirt, enhancing the natural, almost mythical aesthetic. Completing the look is a matching handmade crown and custom-embellished shoes, designed to echo the same textures, colours, and detailing as the gown—creating a fully cohesive costume vision. This design showcases my approach to costume making: story-driven design, meticulous craftsmanship, and a love of rich texture, fantasy, and fine detail, resulting in wearable art created for performance, photography, and imaginative worlds.
