Camelback sofa restoration

project description

It came in with tired fabric, a precarious lean, damaged legs and a lumpy seat. It's going home sturdy, comfortable and looking super smart! Lots and lots of work went into this one. I've replaced a broken back rail and 10 dowels in the frame to straighten and strengthen it. I remade the corner brackets on the front legs and stained them to match. I trimmed the arms to fit the new straight frame to negate how they'd gradually stretched over the years as the backrest started leaning and stripped, sanded, stained and clear coated the arms and legs. Last but certainly not least, I replaced the upholstery in its entirety! The seat is webbed and has 27 springs which are all 8 way tied. Over this is some hessian, premium foam, dacron, calico and finally the top fabric. The backrest has more webbing, hessian, premium foam, dacron and the top fabric. It's all trimmed off with antique brass decorative nails which are the perfect finishing touch!
