biography

Hi, I’m Tracey. I’ve always loved people, creativity, and spending time in nature. And, I have a real soft spot for helping people feel at ease enough to try something new. Drawing has long been one of my favourite ways to slow down, recharge, and notice the little details around me. When I found myself living in this beautiful valley, with a rustic studio and views that felt too good to keep to myself, Drawn to the Valley began to take shape. I wanted to create a welcoming place where people could gather with friends, make something with their hands, and enjoy a creative day out in nature. My creative journey has taken me from the Blue Mountains to Alice Springs, where I spent seven years working alongside artists at Papunya Art Centre, and to the Greek island of Paros, where I studied photography and drawing. Whether you draw often or have not picked up a pencil in years, you’ll be warmly welcomed here. With a down-to-earth approach and a good sense of fun, I’m here to help you enjoy the day your way—often with my spoodles, Lilly and Ned, nearby to say hello.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
