biography

House of Suns House of Suns is a Chilean inspired bakery based in the Blue Mountains, founded by Romina, who brings the flavours and traditions of her home country to Australia. Through traditional Chilean baking, including alfajores, hojarasca and other regional favourites, House of Suns shares a part of Chilean food culture while building a place within the local community. Its roadside stand has become an important part of that story, bringing locals and visitors together over traditional Chilean cakes, creating connections and offering a different way to experience the Blue Mountains. What began as a small baking business has grown into a recognised local name, with features in publications including The Sydney Morning Herald, Good Food Magazine and Australian Traveller, as well as an appearance on SBS’s The Cook Up with Adam Liaw. House of Suns continues to grow through its connection to the community, its Chilean roots and a genuine commitment to sharing good food. Set amongst the Blue Mountains bush, House of Suns is also closely connected to the natural environment. The stand offers a place to slow down, enjoy the outdoors and connect with the landscape and the community that makes this region home. Open every Saturday 9am until Sold out X

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
