Nicky is a painter and interior designer, living in Wentworth Falls. Available for commissions. Sales enquiries - please contact Nicky directly via email or Direct Message on Instagram. "Though art and painting have been lifelong companions, including professional work as a mural artist and decorative paint finishes artisan for 15 years, and for 20+ years as an interior designer, I am now fully focused on establishing a consistent personal art practice. This new chapter is dedicated to further developing a unique visual language and cohesive body of work. For me, making art is the most direct form of non-verbal communication; a visceral response to my observations, memories, and present experience, whether external or internal. It is an attempt to record, capture, interpret, or convey either a state of mind, emotion/s, aspects of myself, or simply a moment in time in a particular place. The inherent challenge in translating these experiences successfully into tangible artworks which engage the viewer is what fuels my ongoing artistic exploration. My practice embraces both figurative and abstract styles, allowing the initial inspiration – whether a chosen subject, a lingering memory, or a powerful feeling – to dictate the artistic approach and the choice of medium."

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
