biography

Kerry-Anne Knibbs is a Symbolic Artist and Author whose creative journey spans fine art, illustration, graphic design, education, counselling, and behavioural science. Beginning her career in the design industry, Kerry-Anne worked professionally for approximately ten years, including early career experience connected to Walt Disney Sydney and a David Hockney Gallery. She later retrained in teaching, counselling, and behavioural science, spending many years teaching, mentoring, and supporting others in their fine art practice. Living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a lifelong connective tissue condition that has progressively affected her physical capacity, Kerry-Anne has returned to a more focused personal art practice. This chapter allows her to explore her enduring fascination with symbolism, spirituality, ancient wisdom, sacred geometry, Jungian psychology, and the relationship between art, science, and consciousness. Her work has featured in group and solo exhibitions, and she is a Featured Artist with Art Lovers Australia. She is also set to be a featured artist on Selling Houses Australia in 2027. Kerry-Anne is the author of IMAGINE: Contemplating the Symbology of Hilma af Klint, a visually immersive exploration for readers drawn to the life and work of Hilma af Klint and the deeper symbolic, spiritual, and philosophical dimensions of art. Through her art and writing, Kerry-Anne invites curiosity, contemplation, and a deeper exploration of the unseen connections that shape how we experience the world.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
