biography

Blue Mountains Gin Company is a growing business that is putting craft spirits where it should be – on top of the mountains. Our logo ‘The Mountains in a bottle’ defines our goal of developing and supplying artisan spirit drinks. This approach inspired our first two gin lines launched in mid-2021 under the ‘Mountain Devil’ label. These products (now numbering eleven) have a reputation for quality among consumers with a taste for premium spirits at a reasonable price. We achieve high local sales via liquor retailers and on-premise outlets, as well as online sales via our company website, supported by social media content. Our sales volumes are rising consistently and aim to continue this trend. The Factory Bar opened in October 2024 and is hidden in quiet streets close to the tourist route. Patrons enjoy the vibe and tasting the subtle flavours of “The Mountains in a Bottle” where they are distilled in Whitton Street, Katoomba. Visitors to The Factory Bar can sip a G & T straight or as a cocktail while chatting to friends, soaking up the atmosphere around an outdoor firepit. Events include distillery tours, cocktail making experiences and live music. The Factory Bar regularly hosts events for up to 60 people (30 indoor + 30 outdoor), with the bar serving tasty meals, local bespoke wines, beer and cider along with our award-winning spirits.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
