Intro to Video Production for young people - ECHO Film Workshop

10am - 4pm
Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Seminar Room

Know a young person who is keen to get into film? Learn how to turn live music into epic videos! No experience needed, just bring creativity, curiosity and your phone! Free Workshop at ECHO.

Step backstage at ECHO, the Blue Mountains’ showcase of amazing local bands, and learn how to turn live performances into your own films!

This hands-on workshop is your chance to:

  • 🎥 Learn camera, lighting, and movement techniques
  • 🎶 Film live bands in action
  • 💻 Edit footage into short sequences using professional tools

The best part? Matt, a pro filmmaker with years of experience (and the SBS docuseries American Candy under his belt), will guide you through every step. He’ll also create a simple final edit for each band using your footage, so your work gets a real-life audience.

Whether you’re already making TikToks, vlogging, or just curious about film, this workshop is all about learning by doing, experimenting, and having fun. Bring your phone or camera and get ready to make something you’ll be proud of!

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
