Anisa was selected as the Gen Z team captain on the rebooted series Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Gen, hosted by Anne Edmonds. She has also appeared on Thank God You’re Here, Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee, Taskmaster Australia and acted alongside comedy royalty in URZILA, Urzila Carlson’s hit ABC sketch series. Ugandan Australian comic and poet Anisa Nandaula’s unique point of view and experiences fuelthe fresh new perspective she’s bringing to the local comedy scene and beyond. Born in Uganda in 2001, Anisa moved to Australia when she was eight and grew up in Rockhampton. Anisa cut her teeth through spoken word. Winning the 2016 Queensland Poetry Slam and coming runner up in the Australia Poetry Slam Championships. This is where she discovered her love of performing and used this momentum to break into comedy in 2020. Clearly finding her calling, Anisa has amassed over 1.7 million followers on her hugely popular Tik Tok, Instagram and YouTube pages, where her clips have been viewed over a hundred million times. Anisa mixes the personal with the political to connect with audiences. Mining everything from racism to relationships, religion to class has seen veering from relatable dating and finance storiesto observations about navigating Australian society while black and back again.
