Betty Smith is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Blue Mountains, N.S.W. Her works convey places and memories inspired by living in the Blue Mountains and travels to small Australian towns, all with a vibrant joyful aesthetic. Her style is described as naive; great artists such as Gustav Klimt, Henri Rousseau and David Hockney are among Betty's influencers. While depicting good natured scene in her artworks, Betty creates a new perspective by distorting proportion. In these deconstructed spaces she places her subject matter, mainly people in high spirits. Betty shows her work at local group exhibitions and this year held a very successful solo exhibition at Braemar gallery Springwood in March to April. Betty is also available for commissions.
